Jared was born and raised in Arbutus, Maryland. He attended Cardinal Gibbons High School and Salisbury University, where he played basketball and wrote for the university paper. He graduated with top honors from Salisbury and received the Justin P. Shen Memorial Award. He then attended the University of Maryland School of Law. After law school, he practiced as an associate for almost eight years, handling over a hundred jury trials, primarily for State Farm.
