About Joel
Joel H. Brown was elected Chief Judge for the 11th Judicial Circuit of Florida in 2009, serving until 2013. Admitted to the Florida Bar in 1971, he practiced as a civil trial lawyer for 19 years before his judicial appointments. He is a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer and a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator. Joel was born, raised, and educated in Miami Beach, graduating from the University of Florida with a B.S.B.A. and a J.D. from the University of Florida Levin School of Law. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1969-1975.
