John was an Army brat who ended up going to SMU during the Dickerson/James years after transferring from the Georgetown School of Foreign Service. After receiving degrees in Mathematical Statistics (BS), Economics (BA) and General Business (BBA) from SMU, John went to work at the Governor’s office in Austin. John then attended the University of Texas and received his Juris Doctorate and Masters of Public Affairs (LBJ school).
