About John
John Tyler Hammons is an attorney in Muskogee and a founding partner at Hammons Hamby & Price. He represents clients in commercial transactions, estate planning, and real estate matters. A fourth-generation Oklahoman and an enrolled citizen of the Cherokee Nation, Mr. Hammons was elected as the 47th Mayor of the city of Muskogee, serving two terms from 2008 to 2012. First elected at the age of 19, he is among the youngest mayors in American history. While at City Hall, Mr. Hammons focused on economic development and infrastructure improvements. After graduating from law school, he served his tribe as an Assistant Attorney General of the Cherokee Nation before founding our firm. Mr. Hammons currently serves as the City Attorney for Checotah, McAlester, Bixby, and Tahlequah. He is the General Counsel for Muskogee County. Mr. Hammons presides as the Municipal Judge in Muskogee.
