About Jordan

Jordan Merson is the managing partner of Merson Law, PLLC, which frequently collaborates with Buzin Law on a variety of cases on behalf of plaintiffs. In his latest case, in September 2022, Merson won a $28.5 million verdict against a prominent New York City surgeon for former Giants running back Michael Cox, whose career was cut short because of a botched surgery following leg and ankle injuries he suffered after being tackled in a game against Seattle in 2014. Previously, Merson won a $28 million jury verdict against a Westchester County school district for inadequate supervision after a special education student was raped after being led off the school campus. The verdict was believed to be the largest in a case involving physical and sexual assault in New York State history. Merson has been retained in numerous high-profile cases. He represented two dozen sexual abuse victims against the Estate of Jeffrey Epstein, which at one time was worth $650 million. Nearly all of these cases have settled for a confidential sum. Merson’s representation of victims of Epstein has received widespread media coverage. Merson also represented nine victims of Harvey Weinstein who participated in two different group settlements - one of approximately $17 million and one of approximately $19 million. Currently, Merson represents victims of former USA Gymnastics and Michigan State doctor Larry Nassar who participated in the settlement funds of $500 million and $380 million. Also at present, Merson represents actress Lili Bernard who has filed a lawsuit against Bill Cosby. The case has received widespread media coverage. In the national, multi-billion dollar Boy Scouts of America bankruptcy, Merson represents co-chair of the Tort Claimants Committee, Dr. Douglas Kennedy. In addition, Merson represents dozens of children who have suffered birth injuries, such as cerebral palsy and Erb’s palsy, as well as other injuries, including the high profile Peloton case. Earlier, Merson won the largest single plaintiff jury verdict in Westchester County - $11.3 million for a six-year-old girl who suffered brain damage because doctors failed to recognize her congenital heart condition. That verdict earned Merson a spot in New York State’s first-ever attorney “Hall of Fame” for medical malpractice verdicts and settlements. Merson has taken a leadership role for victims of sexual assault in New York and Pennsylvania and has recovered millions of dollars - more than $10 million in the last year alone - for individuals of all ages who have been sexually abused or assaulted. He has been actively involved in representing child sex abuse survivors in the Independent Reconciliation Compensation Program (IRCP) administered by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York. The archdiocese has borrowed $100 million to cover all claims. Merson is likewise involved in the Brooklyn diocese’s IRCP. Merson has used some of the proceeds from his cases to help those in need. In 2018, for instance, he made the largest single donation to the Survivors Network Against Priest Abuse (SNAP) at the organization’s annual convention. In Pennsylvania, he spearheaded legal action against the Solebury School in Bucks County on behalf of a 29-year-old former student who claimed she was sexually abused by her gym teacher. The lawsuit followed a grand jury report detailing instances of sexual abuse at the school over a 50-year period.
