Joy Barrientes

Joy Barrientes is a native of the Rio Grande Valley. While pursuing her undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University of Kingsville, she worked in the insurance industry for several years servicing county employees, small and large businesses, and individual policy owners. It was during this time that she developed an interest in advocacy and was encouraged to attend law school. As a full-time student at St. Mary’s University School of Law, Joy clerked at Janicek Law and contributed to The Scholar, St. Mary’s Law Review on Race and Social Justice as a staff writer and associate editor.
