Attorney Richard W. Young, a Long Island native, graduated with honors from Long Island University, C.W. Post College. He served as an officer in the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department, receiving the Jack P. Finnerty Award for Academic Excellence, and later as a highly decorated New York City Police officer and sergeant.
