Sharon R. Povman is a highly experienced attorney focused on streamlining the litigation process to ensure clients receive efficient, thorough, and results-driven representation. She brings 22 years of insurance industry experience to her role at Peña & Kahn, having worked as a claims executive at American International Group (AIG) in various leadership positions. At AIG, Sharon served as Chief Operating Officer of the Global Claims Quality Assurance Group, implementing strategies and software to enhance claim efficiency and best practices worldwide. She was also Senior Vice President of the Claims Service and Marketing Group, leading a national team of over 100 employees to drive business acquisition and retention through claims performance. Additionally, as Division Counsel for Property & Casualty Claims Litigation, she negotiated contracts with panel law firms, analyzed claims trends, ensured consistency in coverage positions, and educated claims and underwriting staff on emerging legal issues and multi-state claims regulations. Following her career at AIG, Sharon served as Managing Attorney at The Povman Law Firm, overseeing the litigation process from intake through settlement, managing the litigation team, and handling Surrogate’s Court proceedings. She played a key role in merging The Povman Law Firm with Peña & Kahn, ensuring a seamless transition for clients and staff. Sharon earned her Juris Doctor from New York Law School and her undergraduate degree from Queens College of the City University of New York. She is admitted to the New York State Bar.
