About Stephen

Stephen K. Benjamin, Mayor of Columbia, S.C., joined The Charleston Group in 2020 to co-chair the Firm's Public Finance and Affordable Housing Practices. He has extensive experience with bonds and other revenue-based obligations used by local governments. He served as the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ 76th President and Executive Chairman of Municipal Bonds for America. In 2023, he was appointed Senior Advisor and Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement. He is also president & CEO of The Benjamin Firm LLC.
