About Vanessa
Vanessa M. Starke grew up in Blue Springs, MO. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California, majoring in Social Sciences with an emphasis in Psychology and minoring in Psychology and the Law. She then attended the University of Missouri School of Law. Ms. Starke is an active member of Rotary International, a graduate of the Missouri Bar Leadership Academy, The Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association's Leadership Academy, and the Ross T. Roberts Trial Academy. She is also a member of the Young Professional Board of Legal Aid for the Western District of Missouri and a Board Member for the Eastern Jackson County Bar Association. Her article 'The Impact of Coy v. Iowa on State Protective Statutes for Child Abuse Victim Testimony in Criminal Trials: A Case Study-Missouri' was published in West’s The Criminal Law Bulletin. She has been selected for inclusion in Missouri’s Super Lawyers Rising Stars list for top-rated criminal defense attorneys from 2017-2020.
