Case Details
An East Bay school district was ordered to pay $2.6 million by a jury because the high school was a “closed campus”, and between the 9th-12th grade years, a female student would leave school to meet an older, married family member, who molested her.
Additional Notes
The school district argued that the student was never molested on campus, and that it had proper procedures to enforce its closed campus policy. The female student prevailed, pointing out the only time during the more than three year period that she was ever molested, was during school hours. Her perpetrator was never able to gain access to her other than during school hours.
