While traveling along the 18th Street Expressway, our client and her husband’s vehicle broke down. The husband exited the car to inspect the issue. Shortly after, a Good Samaritan stopped behind their vehicle to help. A third vehicle crashed into the back of the Good Samaritan’s car with significant force, causing a chain reaction. The impact pushed the Good Samaritan’s vehicle forward into the rear of our client’s car. At that moment, our client’s husband was standing between the Good Samaritan’s vehicle and the third vehicle. As a result, he was caught between the two cars and pronounced dead on the scene. Because there were many witnesses, we were able to get the at-fault party’s insurance company to accept liability for the damage. We secured our client a $4,200,000 settlement, giving her the financial needs for the remainder of her life.
