Later, the father found his son unconscious and blue. Paramedics were called again, and the son was transported to the hospital but never regained consciousness. The case, initially dismissed by the Illinois Appellate Court, was reversed by the Illinois Supreme Court and ultimately tried. A jury awarded a verdict of $5,187,500.00.
