Alfred Potter was a passenger in a vehicle traveling on Interstate 40 East near State Highway 284, fifty miles west of Memphis. A tractor-trailer rear-ended the vehicle Alfred was riding in, causing the host driver to lose control of the vehicle. Alfred was life-flighted to the Regional Medical Center at Memphis where he was treated for multiple injuries and then transferred to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.
