This was a civil lawsuit brought on behalf of six plaintiffs against the Mountain View School District for negligently supervising a teacher who sexually abused elementary school students. The plaintiffs were in the 4th and 5th grade at the time of the abuse while attending Miramonte Elementary School. The jury returned an award of $48 Million with a majority of the fault on the school.
