Represented a private university in a breach of contract lawsuit brought by its former head football coach, who was terminated. The coach claimed he was entitled to a $6 million buyout payment. The university filed a counterclaim for declaratory relief, arguing the coach was entitled to $2 million. The Court agreed with the university’s position, holding that the coach was entitled to nothing more than the $2 million buyout.

Represented a designer, manufacturer, and seller of memorabilia pieces. A team of three former employees resigned and opened a directly-competing business using the client’s confidential information. Following a jury trial, the jury found in favor of the Firm’s client on all claims and awarded nearly $500,000.00 in damages on each claim. The Court also awarded exemplary damages (double damages) and attorneys’ fees, resulting in a total judgment of $1,517,070.46. A permanent injunction was also entered, and the judgment was affirmed on appeal.

Represented two married couples who attempted to sell their oceanfront homes through an auction. The high bidder reneged, and the Firm sued for breach of contract and declaratory relief, seeking to retain a $1,000,000.00 deposit. Following a bench trial, the court concluded that the clients were entitled to the $1,000,000.00 deposit, plus interest, attorneys’ fees, and costs. The Third District Court of Appeal affirmed, resulting in a recovery of more than $1,400,000.00 for the clients.

Represented a trust beneficiary in a dispute involving his three adult siblings. The siblings objected to the disbursement of $1,000,000.00 from a building sale, alleging unenforceability of their agreement. Following a multiday evidentiary hearing, the Circuit Court rejected the siblings’ defenses, granted the Firm’s motion to enforce the agreement, and awarded $1,000,000.00 plus taxable costs to the client.
