While walking onto a City bus in Brooklyn the bus driver closed the front door of the bus on a woman’s leg. The woman did not realize she was inj ured until later that night and did not obtain the name and phone numbers of any passengers on the bus to back up her story. The bus driver denied that he closed the door on her. The Transit Authority had a woman testify at the trial who claimed she was on the bus and that the client went onto the bus through the back door not the front door. In spite of this woman’s testimony, the jury still gave a verdict for the client and decided the bus driver was partly responsible for the accident. The woman had a previous back problem which got worse from this accident and she underwent surgery during which 2 discs were removed. After the jury found the bus driver to be partly responsible for the accident, the case settled for $900,000.

A 31 year old tile setter sustained a burn to his hand and injured his wrist and neck as a result of coming into contact with a live electrical wire while working. The case settled just before trial.

Construction Accident

A man in his 30‘s was working on the roof of a building under construction. A crane was lowering a large heavy bag to the roof. As the client was detaching the bag the crane lifted up causing his hand to be caught between the crane straps and the large bag. The client was lifted into the air and he pulled his hand so it came out of the straps and he fell to the roof. But in doing so, palt 0f 3 Of his fingers were detached from his hand. The Judge agreed with our firm that the manager of the construction site was 100% responsible for this accident because they did not make sure that the crane did not lift up until the client’s hand was safely removed from inside the straps. The case settled just before the beginning 0ftria1 to determine the value of his injuries.

A man in his early 50’s was standing on a wooden scaffold at work which broke and he fell 8 feet to the ground below. He herniated a disc in his low back, the disc was removed during surgery and screws were inserted. The client could not return to work due to his injuries. The Judge granted the client’s motion and agreed with our lawfirm that the owner of the building was 100% responsible for allowing the scaffold to break. The case settled just before the trial to determine the value of his injuries.
