The jury awarded him $412,000,000 in damages for injuries suffered when he was persuaded to undergo penile injections that destroyed his penis. The injured man’s lawyers argued that he had been misdiagnosed and tricked into receiving unneeded injections. Over $375 million of the damages were punitive damages intended to punish the defendant clinic for fraud.

The plaintiff, 66, went to a men’s health clinic for fatigue and weight loss, was told he needed penile injections to avoid permanent injury, and suffered permanent damage to his penis after a botched injection and delayed medical response. He contended the clinic's actions were part of a fraudulent scheme.
