Structured settlement, anesthesiology and pediatric gastroenterology, brain damage. A very concerned mother scheduled her 9 year old daughter for a gastroenterology endoscopic exam. This is where the child is placed under anesthesia and the pediatric gastroenterologist slides a tube down into the stomach with a camera to explore the area. During this procedure, the nurse anesthetist failed to properly monitor the child’s decline in heart rate and oxygen and the child’s heart stopped. After being revived by an emergency room physician the child suffered permanent paralysis and extensive brain damage resulting in a quadriplegic condition with no recognizable mental activity.

A young child suffering from numerous medical problems including neurological and physical injuries with partial paralysis received home nursing care assistance. The nurse failed to monitor the child correctly and improperly performed CPR when his breathing had ceased. The child suffered additional brain injury. The nursing care company was a conduit for independent contractors (nurses) with no assets except its insurance policy of $3 million. The insurance company paid the policy limits approximately 1½ years into litigation.

Jury verdict, radiation oncology, radiation induced loss of leg, radiation injury. An active gentleman in his late 40’s was discovered to have a cancerous tumor in his thigh. The tumor was removed successfully and he started radiation therapy to bombard the area where the tumor was located to ensure no cancer cells were left behind. The radiation oncologist and physicist did not adequately evaluate the dose and its distribution which resulted in massive over radiation and the death of his entire leg from radiation necrosis.

Default & Summary Judgment Urology Negligence. A young woman whose urologist advised her that she had bladder cancer after removing a small tissue sample from her bladder. He then treated her with multiple infusions of modified tuberculosis bacteria that had been modified and injected into her bladder. After receiving all of the treatment a new doctor advised her that she never had cancer and that the treatment could have given her TB. She suffered from severe emotional distress.

Settlement urology bladder damage. Bladder / Kidney Stones / Failure to Diagnose / Infection. A retired gentleman was experiencing bladder problems because kidney stones were located in his bladder. A urologist performed a procedure to break up the stones in his bladder and in so doing cut through the bladder into the peritoneal cavity. The urologist did not diagnose his mistake and a massive infection occurred. He was diagnosed approximately 10 days later and repaired but it was too late to stop the massive infection. He was hospitalized for approximately 6 months and underwent additional surgical procedures.
