Erick M. Barbare

Erick M. Barbare (b. February 24, 1978) is a graduate of Appalachian State University (2001) and the University of South Carolina School of Law (2004). While in law school, Erick participated in the Environmental Law Clinic and was a law clerk at the Korn Law Firm and Callison, Tighe and Robinson. After graduating from law school, Erick had the honor of serving as judicial law clerk for the Honorable James W, Johnson, Jr., former circuit judge of South Carolina’s Eighth Judicial Circuit. Erick is primarily a trial lawyer, practicing in the South Carolina Family Courts and Circuit Courts. Erick is licensed to practice in all South Carolina state courts, and is a member of the Greenville County and American Bar Associations.

Walter M. Riggs

Walter received a B.S. degree in Business Administration in 1982 and a J.D. degree in 1988, both from the University of South Carolina. Until joining the Hanson Law Firm in 2007, he was in a general practice, which included criminal, domestic and civil litigation matters. In addition to residential and commercial real estate transactions, Walter focuses his practice these days in the areas of wills, trusts, estate planning, estate probate and litigation matters, civil litigation matters, automobile accidents and appellate matters.

Ken Hanson

Ken’s career path found him joining the Bedford Police Department from 1966-1972. In 1974, Ken completed his undergraduate degree at USC in Political Science and International Studies. He entered the University of South Carolina Law School in l974 and graduated in May 1977 and was sworn in as an Attorney in November 1977. Ken has practiced in Columbia on St. Andrews Road since November 1978. Today, Ken and The Hanson Law Firm’s practice focuses on the areas of Real Estate, Family, and Elder Law.

Ronald F. Barbare

Ronald F. Barbare (b. February 27, 1951, Greenville SC) is a graduate of Furman University (1973) and the University of South Carolina Law School (1976). Ron has practiced primarily in the closing of real estate transactions, residential and commercial, for over 35 years. He also handles litigation cases involving real estate. Ron is a licensed agent for ChicagoTitle Insurance Company. Ron also does estate planning, probate work and corporation law. He is married to Judy Barbare, and has three children: Erick Barbare, Ryan Barbare, and Brett Flowers

Drake Hanson

Drake Hanson graduated from Coastal Carolina University in 2017 majoring in political science. He graduated from UofSC School of Law in 2021 and was admitted to practice in South Carolina in October of 2021. His primary practice area is residential real estate closings.

Phillip Kelly

Philip Kelly joined our firm in 2022. He graduated from Clemson University in 2014 and received a J.D degree in 2018 from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Philip’s primary area of practice is Real Estate. In his spare time he enjoys golf, tennis, and riding his bike on the Swamp Rabbit Trail.

Jake grew up in Greenville, South Carolina. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina and a Juris Doctorate from the Charleston School of Law. He began his legal career in Workers’ Compensation Defense, then served as a Public Defender in Sumter County, and now focuses on representing injured workers in private practice. He is married with three children and resides in Lexington, South Carolina.
