Christopher D. Sandy

Christopher D. Sandy’s practice focuses on representing plaintiffs in a variety of civil litigation matters, including claims for breach of contract, personal injury, workers’ compensation benefits, and state and federal employment discrimination claims. He also provides counsel for other legal challenges, including criminal defense and general civil litigation. Prior to joining Sandy Law Firm, Chris practiced for over three years in the Labor and Employment Section at Baird Holm LLP in Omaha, Nebraska. At Baird Holm, he defended employers and companies against claims for workers compensation benefits, employment discrimination claims, and premises liability actions. Chris is a 2014 graduate of Creighton School of Law, cum laude, where he earned three CALI Excellence for the Future awards in the areas of Healthcare Law and Criminal Law. He graduated from Wartburg College with a Bachelor of Arts in History, magna cum laude, in 2011. When not in the office or in court, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife Kelly and daughters, Nora and Kate.

Tyler Alger

Tyler Alger’s practice focuses on a variety of matters, both civil and criminal. He provides counsel for personal injury claims, suits for breach of contract, and other civil litigation matters, as well as criminal defense and estate planning. Prior to joining Sandy Law Firm, Tyler clerked for the district court judges in District 3A in Dickinson County, Iowa. While clerking, he spent extensive time researching and briefing a variety of legal issues presented to the Court. Tyler is a 2021 graduate of the University of St. Thomas School of Law, graduating cum laude, where he received the Dean’s Excellence award in Criminal Procedure. In 2018, Tyler earned his Bachelor of Arts degrees from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. When not in the office or the courtroom, you can find Tyler on the golf course or spending time with his wife Teagan.

Shannon Sandy

Before attending law school at Drake University, Shannon was a social worker working with troubled teenagers and their families and investigating reports of child abuse and neglect. Upon completion of law school Shannon worked for the Child Support Recovery Unit in Spencer, Iowa. In 1991, she decided to enter private practice and joined Sandy Law Firm. She also has been an adjunct professor of family law at Iowa Lakes Community College. Shannon has over thirty years of extensive experience in juvenile and family law. In June of 2009, Shannon was certified as a Child Welfare Law Specialist by the National Association of Counsel for Children.

John L. Sandy

Following John’s graduation from Drake Law School in 1981, he came to the Iowa Great Lakes and started Sandy Law Firm while serving as Assistant Dickinson County Attorney from 1982-1983. From 1983-1987 John was elected as the Dickinson County Attorney and prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases. He has been practicing in the area ever since and has a broad range of legal expertise in criminal defense, civil litigation, wills and trusts, and family law.

Michael L. Sandy

Michael L. Sandy’s practice focuses on representing plaintiffs in a variety of civil litigation matters, including claims for breach of contract, family law, and estate planning. He also provides counsel for other legal challenges, including criminal defense and general civil litigation. Michael joined Sandy Law Firm in 2015, Michael also previously worked for Bank Midwest as a Trust Officer for two and a half years. At Bank Midwest, Michael helped clients prepare their estate plan and accomplish the goals of clients along with facilitating meetings with beneficiaries and children. Michael is a 2015 graduate of Drake School of Law. While in law school, he also completed the tax clinic helping indigent clients. He graduated from Wartburg College with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting, cum laude, in 2012. When not in the office or in court, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife McKenzie and daughters Isabelle, Sophie and Anna. Michael, McKenzie, Isabelle, Sophie and Anna love playing with their dogs Rudy (golden retriever) and Bubba (black lab) and spending time on the lake and golf course.
