Erik V. Hasselman

After serving as a judicial clerk, he had a three-decade career as a Major Crimes prosecutor, specializing in criminal homicides, vehicular homicides, sexual assault, and child abuse. Erik joined Leahy Cox after retiring from prosecution, now focusing on personal injury and family law, helping victims and ensuring fair treatment in the judicial system.

Kay Hyde-Patton

Kay Hyde-Patton, originally from Stephenville, Texas, earned a Bachelor's in English from Tarleton State University and a J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law in 2003. With over 20 years of experience, her expertise includes estate planning, estate administration, elder law, and business law. Kay is actively involved in her field and community, having chaired the Oregon State Bar Elder Law Executive Committee and served on the Willamalane Park Foundation.

Patrick S. Melendy

Patrick Melendy grew up in Independence, Oregon, and earned his undergraduate degree in History from Western Oregon University before attending the University of Oregon School of Law, graduating in 1996. His practice focuses exclusively on family law, including mediation. He is a member of the Oregon State Bar and Lane County Bar Association, and is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of the State of Oregon, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, the United States District Court for the District of Oregon, and the Grand Ronde Tribal Court, where he serves as Chief Judge.

Matthew J. Cox

Matthew Cox, originally from Flagstaff, Arizona, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Oregon in 1993 and his law degree in 1998. He served as an Assistant District Attorney for Lane County from 1998 to 2004 before joining Leahy Cox, LLP. Matt is known for his work in civil litigation, criminal prosecution, family law, contracts, and arbitrations. He is dedicated to helping clients make informed decisions regarding litigation versus settlement.

Joseph J. Leahy

Joseph J. Leahy retired at the end of 2021 after 52 years of actively practicing law. He joined the firm in 1976 and contributed significantly to building a strong legal team.

Alex E. Gavriilidis

Alex Gavriilidis, originally from Arizona, moved to Eugene, Oregon, in 2011 to attend the University of Oregon School of Law, earning his J.D. in 2013. He holds an undergraduate degree in Biology from Arizona State University. Alex is a zealous advocate with significant trial experience, specializing in estate planning, probate/estate administration, guardianship, and conservatorships. He is known for his creative solutions to help clients achieve their goals and volunteers at the Willamalane Senior Center.
