When Crashes Happen
The temporal patterns of crashes remained broadly consistent year-over-year, though at a higher volume. The peak day for crashes in both June 2021 and June 2020 was Tuesday, with counts increasing from 1,093 to 1,483. Road & Environmental Conditions
The distribution of crashes across different weather, lighting, and road surface conditions remained remarkably stable between June 2020 and June 2021. Vehicles & Demographics
The top three vehicle makes involved in crashes remained consistent year-over-year: Honda, Toyota, and Ford, with all three seeing an increase in crash counts. Honda involvement rose from 1,333 to 1,802 vehicles, Toyota from 1,114 to 1,507, and Ford from 1,064 to 1,503. An analysis of persons involved shows a slight proportional increase in the 16-25 age group, which represented 22.3% of all persons in crashes in June 2021, up from 20.7% in June 2020.

Speed Limit Zones
Crash volumes increased across most posted speed limit zones from June 2020 to June 2021. Notably, crashes in 55 mph zones nearly doubled, rising from 447 to 846, and incidents in 25 mph zones increased from 2,137 to 2,634. Despite the rise in total crashes, the fatality rate within several key speed zones decreased.
