Beyond this line: fatal crashes only
Everything below comes from NHTSA FARS, the federal census of crashes in which someone died. Its counts are a small fraction of the all-severity numbers above, and the two datasets are never combined.
Fatal crashes in Connecticut
4,052 fatal crashes from the NHTSA Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS), the federal census of every US traffic crash that killed someone. Injury and property-damage-only crashes are not in these numbers. This is a separate dataset from the all-crash records above. It covers different years and counts places differently, so the two are never combined.
Statewide Fatal Crash Reports
Deaths-only reports covering all of Connecticut, benchmarked year over year.
Fatal crashes by county (8)
Every Connecticut county with recorded traffic deaths. Deaths only, not total crashes.
Fatal crashes by city (201)
Deaths-only records by city. Crashes on rural roads outside any municipality are counted at county and state level only.
