When Crashes Happen
The timing of crashes shifted between the two periods. In March 2020, Monday was the peak day for crashes with 1,133 incidents, a change from March 2019 when Friday was the peak with 1,894 crashes. While the afternoon commute hour of 3 p.m. remained the single busiest hour for collisions in both years, the peak volume at that hour dropped from 738 to 531 crashes.

Vehicles & Demographics
Analysis of vehicles and persons involved shows consistency across both periods. The top five vehicle makes involved in crashes were identical in rank year-over-year: Honda, Toyota, Ford, Nissan, and Chevrolet, though the counts for each were lower in March 2020. Speed Limit Zones
Crash distribution shifted slightly towards lower speed zones in March 2020, with 72.5% of incidents occurring in zones posted at 35 mph or less, compared to 68.1% in the prior year.
