Stan is our founder and Business Development Partner. Stan began his career in Construction Law and Business Law, gaining valuable experience in the courtroom and among businesses. Currently, Stan is leading our business development initiatives by forming partnerships with other firms, recruiting great talent, and creating mergers with other law offices. Stan attended Ohio Northern University, where he played football and was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity. In 1987, Stan graduated from ONU with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and began working as an Assistant Geomatics Engineer at the Bureau of Location and Design before attending law school. While a student at Capital Law School, Stan clerked for the Ohio Attorney General’s Office before graduating in 1991. After law school, Stan took a position at CJ Mahan Construction Company. While at Mahan, Stan spent most of his time preparing claims for delay, changed circumstances, acceleration, and other such issues related to complex construction projects. Stan went on to found Willis Spangler Starling in 1992. During the ensuing years, Stan gained an enormous amount of experience advising businesses of every kind, as well as building and managing Willis Spangler Starling. These many unique experiences inspired Stan’s passion for the law and his commitment to supporting people and businesses when it matters most. Stan is married to Senior Partner, Kelly Willis, has three children and two grandchildren, and currently lives in London, Ohio. He enjoys spending time on the lake and flying airplanes. Stan also served as a Board Member of both the Hilliard Rotary and the Franklin County Fair Board and was a member of the Franklin County Agricultural Society.
