About Cory

Cory Stuart was born and raised in the greater New Orleans area. He graduated from Jesuit High School and then attended Louisiana State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Sciences in Marketing in 2004. After directing operations for a national college athletics organization for several years, Cory attended law school and earned a Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2010. While attending Loyola, Cory was a member of the Maritime Law Journal, which published his Comment regarding the legal and practical dynamics involved with complex shipwreck salvage. After graduating from law school and earning admission to the Louisiana State Bar in 2010, Cory gained extensive experience litigating insurance disputes from both a defense and coverage perspective. He has advised both domestic and international clients in diverse matters involving a multitude of admiralty and maritime issues, marine and non-marine personal injury defense, domestic and commercial property damage disputes, environmental and regulatory matters, and general casualty issues. Cory has also litigated a broad spectrum of first and third-party insurance coverage matters. He has assisted his clients in obtaining many favorable outcomes, both in the context of alternative dispute resolution and at trial, including in multi-million dollar personal injury and general casualty claims. Cory joined Perrier & Lacoste in 2017, and he now serves corporate and insurance clients in litigating matters involving transportation, wrongful death, personal injury, products liability, property damage, commercial litigation, and insurance coverage and bad faith. He is licensed and admitted to practice in all Louisiana state and federal courts, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Cory is also admitted to practice in the Southern District of Texas. He is a member of several legal associations, including the New Orleans Bar Association, Louisiana State Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, New Orleans Association of Defense Counsel, and the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel. Cory has also been selected to the Louisiana Super Lawyers Rising Stars List 2019-2022. Cory and his wife, Courtney, reside in Metairie, where they love spending time with their three sons - Owen, Elliott, and Jack. Cory frequently devotes his spare time to supporting the local fitness community, including as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Crescent City Classic group of races. He is an avid sports fan and semi-dedicated coach, particularly in basketball, tennis, soccer, and golf. Cory also enjoys cooking, listening to a variety of music, and tending to his plants and gardens.
