James H. Heidelberg, also known as Jimmy, is a lifelong resident of Pascagoula, Mississippi, practicing law since January 1978. His practice focuses on trial and appellate litigation in personal injury, governmental law, and professional liability. He has argued over eighty cases before various courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, and represents Mississippi governmental agencies. He is an approved arbitrator for the Mississippi Bar’s Court Annexed Mediation Project and NASD. Jimmy holds a BS from the University of Southern Mississippi and a JD from the University of Mississippi. He is a founding member of the USM Law Society and a member of USM’s Hall of Fame. He is a member of numerous legal associations including the Mississippi Bar and the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel. He has held an 'AV' rating in Martindale-Hubbell since 1994 and has been listed in 'The Best Lawyers in America' since 1999, receiving the Mississippi State Bar Distinguished Service Award in 2003. He is annually listed in 'SuperLawyers - Mid-South Edition' and recognized in 'Best Lawyers in America' across seven practice areas. He was named 'Lawyer of the Year' for Medical Malpractice in 2013 and for Personal Injury Litigation in 2016 and 2018. He served 16 years on the Mississippi Oil & Gas Board, including a term as Chairman. In 2022, he was appointed to the Jackson County Port Authority and recognized as one of Mississippi’s Top 50 Most Influential Citizens. In 2024, Governor Tate Reeves appointed him to the Board of the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning.
