About Joseph

Joseph Garrison was the leading employment lawyer in Connecticut and one of the most prominent employee rights advocates in the United States from his founding of Garrison Law in 1977 until his retirement from client representation in 2023. Starting in 2024, Joe is Of Counsel to the firm and serves exclusively as a neutral, focusing on mediation and arbitration. His ADR practice draws upon his storied career as a trial lawyer and negotiator, having received virtually every award and honor available to a trial lawyer. He served three years as President of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) and 15 years on its Executive Board, and is NELA’s representative to the Federal Rules Advisory Committee. He was a Charter Fellow and later national President of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, and an elected member of the American Law Institute (ALI), involved in drafting the Restatement (Third) of Employment Law.
