About Mark

Mark Pryor has been practicing law in Texas for twenty years, retaining his English accent from his upbringing on a farm outside London. His first career was a decade as a journalist, covering police and crime stories. He moved to America in 1995, graduating with highest honors from UNC-Chapel Hill's journalism school, and then earned his JD cum laude from Duke University School of Law. After a few years in commercial litigation in Dallas, he returned to his interest in criminal law, joining the Travis County District Attorney's Office in 2006. He has handled almost every type of criminal case, including being lead prosecutor on a dozen murder cases (one capital murder) and trying dozens of felony cases before a jury. He specializes in juvenile criminal law, having handled thousands of cases as a prosecutor over five years in that division. Beyond his legal career, he is a published mystery novelist, with his first novel, 'The Bookseller,' making Oprah.com's mystery list in 2012. He has since published ten novels and is starting a new series. He enjoys spending time with his family and traveling for his books.
