Nicholas J. Chauvin was born in Houma, Louisiana and has been a practicing attorney in Louisiana for twenty two years. During that time he practiced in many of the state’s District and Appellate courts, the Louisiana Supreme Court, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Louisiana, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. His experience has been focused in insurance defense and coverage litigation, premises liability, hurricane litigation, general casualty, trucking and transportation litigation, and automobile liability. In particular, Mr. Chauvin has handled bad faith automobile and personal lines cases, including lawsuits involving tractor-trailer accidents resulting in serious injuries. In addition, Mr. Chauvin has experience in litigating bad faith claims arising out of first and third party claims handling and failure to defend claims, as well as other uninsured motorist, automobile, and homeowner’s coverage issues. Mr. Chauvin has participated in numerous trials in state and federal courts involving serious automobile accidents, as well as commercial and homeowner’s claims. Mr. Chauvin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Nicholls State University in 1996 and obtained his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University School of Law, New Orleans, in 2000. While attending Loyola, Mr. Chauvin was a member of the Student Bar Association, the Federalist Society, and the Maritime Law Society. He is currently a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel. Mr. Chauvin enjoys spending time with his family, especially his son, Luke. In particular, he enjoys traveling with his son and taking him to Saint’s games.
