About Paul

I was born and raised in Tacoma, Washington, the youngest of five, and grew up attending Geiger Elementary, Hunt Junior High, and Wilson High School before earning my undergraduate degree from the University of Washington. I met my wife just outside a courtroom at the County-City building. We married in my parents’ backyard in Tacoma and now have two incredible daughters. Since 1992, I’ve represented clients across a broad legal spectrum, including insureds, individuals, municipalities, and corporations. I’ve served as a chief legal officer to cities, ports, and school districts, as General Counsel, a City Manager, and a Judge Pro Tem. My early legal career began alongside Spencer as prosecutors for the City of Tacoma. We tried a high volume of cases against a strong Pierce County defense bar. Years later, our paths crossed again with a shared interest in better advocacy for brain injury victims in personal injury cases. When Spencer and Kim invited me to join their firm, it felt like the natural next step-and it's been the most meaningful chapter of my career. Today, my practice focuses on plaintiff’s personal injury, municipal liability, workplace and discrimination investigations, and Title IX and school district investigations.
