About Phillip

Phil is a partner at Willis Spangler Starling and is the Lead Attorney in our Workers’ Compensation Practice. Phil came to Willis Spangler Starling in 2009, shortly after being admitted to the bar. He has devoted his entire practice to helping injured workers navigate the complexities of the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and the Industrial Commission of Ohio and is also a member of the Ohio State Bar Association. Phil attended The Ohio State University, where he received a degree in History, with honors. While in undergrad, Phil co-founded the OSU running club. Post-graduation, he attended The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law. While in law school, Phil participated in the Student Bar Association, the Dispute Resolution and Youth program, the Public Interest Law Foundation, and a nationwide Negotiation competition. He obtained his J.D. in 2008. Phil always knew that he wanted to help people and likes to think that the practice of Workers’ Compensation law chose him. This practice enables him to assist individuals facing significant challenges by providing counseling and legal expertise to guide them through the system. Phil is married and lives just outside Hilliard with his wife and two dogs. He is a runner (turned jogger) and is always attempting, rather unsuccessfully, to learn how to play golf. Phil also enjoys cheering on the Reds, Bengals, and Buckeyes, and tolerates the mental abuse that comes with being a fan of those teams.
