About Sesia
Attorney Sesia N. Cruz was born and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland. Sesia earned her Juris Doctor degree in law at University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law (UDC), Washington, DC. Prior to that she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland, College Park. Sesia’s passion for immigrant advocacy started at the age of fifteen and has only intensified since entering law school. As a 1L, Sesia volunteered with the Immigration and Human Rights Clinic at her law school in pro se asylum workshops and traveled to a family detention center in Berks County, PA, where she worked with detained asylum-seeking families during spring break. As a 2L student attorney in the Immigration and Human Rights Clinic, Sesia and her Clinic partner successfully represented a young Honduran man fleeing violence in Arlington Immigration Court. Sesia has interned with Catholic Charities Archdiocese in Washington D.C. and with the New York Legal Assistance Group. Outside of law school, Sesia volunteers to translate for immigration attorneys during trial preparation and a mentor for the youth at her church. At UDC, Sesia is a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity (Cahn Chapter) and the Latino Law Student Association, an organization that engages in pro bono work to better serve our community.
