John D. Mayne is a native of Sioux City. He is a graduate of Harvard College (1970) and the Drake University Law School, with honors, (1976). He served three years as an officer in the U.S. Navy, including one tour aboard a destroyer in the Vietnam theater. He is a Fellow of the Iowa State Bar Association Foundation. John is an avid semi-professional cellist, performing regularly in the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra. He is also a golfer and hunter.
