Mike was born and raised in North Iowa and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1998. He attended the University of Iowa and obtained his B.B.A in Marketing. He spent nearly a decade working in marketing and sales in Chicago, before relocating to St. Paul, MN and attending Mitchell Hamline School of Law. After earning his law degree, Mike returned to his hometown of Clear Lake in 2013 to begin his legal career, and has been practicing in the area ever since. Service has always been an integral part of Mike’s life, and it was his desire to help others that led him to return to school to pursue his law degree. In addition to providing support and guidance in the legal realm today, Mike also serves as Vice President of the Clear Lake Community School Board and as a Member of the Iowa Supreme Court Grievance Commission. In the past, he has served as president of the Clear Lake Noon Lions Club, president of Good Shepherd Nursing Home, and on the Family Preservation Court Steering Committee. Outside of the firm, Mike likes to attend sporting events and enjoy time on the water with his wife, Rachelle, and their three children.

Renee recently graduated from Drake University Law School with highest honors and was recognized with the SBA President’s Student Service Award and the American Law Institute Scholarship & Leadership Award. Renee is also a C. Edwin Moore Oral Advocacy Winner and member of the Order of the Coif and National Order of Barristers. Born and raised on an Eastern Iowa farm, Renee returned to this side of the state to settle down in a town reminding her of her hometown roots. Jackie grew up in northwest Iowa and was inspired to practice law by her father, Roger A. Berkland, an attorney in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Following in his footsteps, she attended the University of Iowa College of Law-graduating with honors. Finding herself impressed with both Laird Law Firm and the Mason City community, she decided to plant roots on the north central side of the state. Andy grew up in St. Cloud, MN, and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire.
