John Paul Berke was raised in Brooksville, Florida and started his career as a Florida State Trooper at 20 years of age. He was promoted to Traffic Homicide Investigator in 1992 and then to Sergeant in 1993. He graduated from Florida Southern College cum laude with a B.S. in Corporate Finance, then received his Juris Doctor. He worked as an associate attorney in a personal injury firm and later opened his own law firm in Lakeland, FL before merging with Morgan & Morgan. He has been honored with the AV Rating by Martindale-Hubbell.
