About Colleen
Colleen Meenan serves as 'Of Counsel' at GLK, bringing 28 years of experience in advocating for women's rights. A former decorated NYPD officer, she understands the challenges women face in the workplace. Colleen is known for her uncompromising advocacy, securing multiple jury verdicts in employment matters, including Elliot v. City of New York and Sorrenti v. City of New York. Her significant appellate victories, affirmed by the New York State Court of Appeals in Albunio v. City of New York and Sandiford v. City of New York, clarified the interpretation of retaliation claims under the New York City Human Rights Law. In December 2015, she testified before the City Council in support of an amendment to the City's human rights law, which was later passed, making it one of the most rigorous laws protecting workers' rights in the U.S. Colleen is an executive board member of NELA/NY, advocating for employee rights through legislation, education, and litigation, and was instrumental in advocating for changes in state legislation in 2019 to better protect victims of workplace harassment. She is a 1991 graduate of City University of New York School of Law and admitted to practice in New York federal and state courts.
