Nathan Cooper was born in McClean County, Illinois, and settled in Greer, South Carolina. He earned a B.A. in History from the University of South Carolina and a Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he received Child Welfare Law Certification. He was awarded the Anthony Raymond Memorial Scholarship Award.
