About Ricardo
Ricardo Rodriguez, Jr., is a native of Edinburg, Texas. He was the first in his family to attend college, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration - Accounting from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1995. He received his Juris Doctorate degree from Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 1999. He was admitted to practice in Texas and the United States District Court, Southern District of Texas. He served as a Council Member for the City of Edinburg for two terms. He was elected to preside over the 92nd District Court for two terms (2006-2013) and was re-elected for a four-year term. He also served as the Hidalgo County Criminal District Attorney from 2015, being re-elected in 2018. During his tenure as Criminal District Attorney, he implemented various initiatives including the Special Crimes Division, Victims Unit, Domestic Violence Unit, and Human Trafficking Unit. He also oversaw specialty courts and participated in numerous awareness campaigns.
