Rod W. Smith joined Avera & Avera as partner in 2000, leading to the firm's renaming as Avera & Smith, LLP. He has been instrumental in the firm's growth and capabilities, bringing extensive trial experience and expertise in labor law, criminal law, and personal injury. A University of Florida College of Law graduate (1975), Rod served as State Attorney of the Eighth Judicial Circuit from 1992-2000, where he was nationally recognized as a preeminent prosecutor by the Association of Capital Litigators. He is known for his community involvement, frequently serving as an auctioneer for Haven Hospice and participating in charity golf tournaments.
