About Terry

Terry H. McBride graduated from Edison High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State University. He continued his education and obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Tulsa College of Law. While in law school he clerked in Tulsa Probate Court for Judge M.M. McDougal who was instrumental in writing the Oklahoma probate code. Terry McBride was a prosecutor in Rogers, Mayes, and Craig Counties for a number of years and was the chief prosecutor for many of those. While a prosecutor he received the Prosecutor of the year award from the A-ONE (Association of Oklahoma Narcotic Enforcers) group. In addition, Terry McBride was in the private practice of law for a number of years having been mentored by some of the best legal minds in Oklahoma. He tried numerous jury trials as a prosecutor, a defense attorney, and as a civil litigator. Terry McBride was appointed to the bench in Rogers, Mayes, and Craig Counties as a judge of the District Court in 1994 and served 25 years. (The longest term of anyone in Mayes County history so far.) During his time on the bench, he presided over nearly every type of case that can come before the District Court and he administered the court system during his tenure as District Judge. He was elected Presiding Judge unanimously by his fellow judges over the 8 Counties in Northeast Oklahoma. He was awarded the OCDL President’s Award for distinguished service. Terry McBride has been active in the community in various roles. He was a founding member of the Pryor Optimist’s Club, helped found the Mayes County Families in Action, was a founding member of the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Green Country. He brought the CASA program to the Courts in Mayes County. He developed Youth Court, and sponsored the high school mock trial team. He was the recipient of President Bush’s Volunteer of America award for work in Pryor. Terry McBride has been an instructor for police officers through C.L.E.E.T. (Council on Law Enforcement and Training). He has been an instructor for the Court Improvement Project and has been an instructor for Judges and Lawyers for their continuing education.
