W.D. Ballard

About W.D.

Mr. Ballard practiced law for over seventy years. He attended North Georgia College and Emory before earning his undergraduate at UGA and his law degree from the University of Georgia. He passed the bar in 1949 at age 22. He served as an attorney for Oxford, Mansfield, Newton County Water and Sewerage Authority, and as city attorney for Covington, Newton County, Porterdale, Newborn, Walnut Grove and Jersey. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Georgia House of Representatives and later the Georgia Senate, representing District 45. In 2004, he was elected mayor of Oxford, Georgia.
