Case Details
Kennan-Justice Kobe Ford died at age four from massive brain injuries inflicted by his mother and her boyfriend. From 2020 until Kennan-Justice’s death in 2022, DSHS/DCYF received three referrals of abuse and neglect perpetrated against Kennan-Justice by his mother and her boyfriends. The final of these referrals included allegations of unexplained injuries to Kennan-Justice and domestic violence in the home. This referral was never investigated by DSHS/DCYF and Kennan-Justice died later that year. No disciplinary action was taken with respect to any of the workers who handled the final referral. Ressler & Tesh obtained a settlement of $15,000,000 for Kennan-Justice’s estate.
