Before trial, the apartment complex’s insurance company offered approximately $7,000,000 to settle the cases. After a five-week trial, the jury returned combined compensatory damages verdicts of $24,500,000 and a punitive damage verdict of $250,000. The case is reported as the highest jury verdict in Alabama for 2015 and 83rd highest jury verdict in the country.
