A 48-year-old Florida man injured during a fall in a Burger King bathroom was awarded one of the largest slip-and-fall verdicts in the state’s history after a jury found the restaurant liable for his injuries. Originally offered a $200,000 insurance settlement, Richard Tulecki took Burger King to court and wound up with a $7.8 million verdict to compensate him for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and lost earnings.

Commercial Vehicle Accident/Wrongful Death

A heavy 18-wheeler slowly entered the freeway and moved into the main lanes without accelerating up to highway speeds. Behind it, a work truck with our client riding in the front seat was rapidly approaching. Our client’s driver was distracted by his cell phone and failed to take evasive action until he was almost on top of the 18-wheeler. Commercial Vehicle Accident

A tractor-trailer driving along the interstate failed to slow for rainy conditions, hydroplaned on the wet road, and jack-knifed, blocking the westbound lanes. The driver of a sedan following behind this truck failed to stop in time and submarined under the trailer, inflicting life-changing injuries on the young woman in his front passenger seat. Our client’s catastrophic injuries included permanent brain damage that left her confined to a wheelchair and in need of physical and cognitive therapy for the rest of her life.

Work Injury Accident

Our young client was working at a chemical blending facility when one of his co-workers inadvertently ignited sodium chloride powder that had fallen on the floor. The resulting explosion and fire destroyed the building and left our client with severe, excruciating burns over a third of his body: his hands, arms, shoulders, and back. His injuries took months to heal and left permanent scars, even after multiple skin grafts and laser surgery, and his grip strength and dexterity were permanently impaired.

Eastbound, a young father with his 14-year-old son in the backseat took desperate evasive action but could not avoid a massive wreck. The tractor-trailer’s driver claimed he’d had a medical emergency, but it turned out he was likely watching a video instead.
