Chad Chojnicki

Chad E. Chojnicki represents clients in matters relating to divorce, child custody, child support, personal injury, civil litigation, workers compensation and business organization. He graduated from Effingham High School in 1996, earned a bachelor's degree in history from Eastern Illinois University in 2000, and graduated from St. Louis University School of Law in 2003. He previously worked for the Missouri Public Defender System and Ellinger & Associates before returning to his hometown in 2008 to practice with Taylor Law Offices. In 2012, he co-founded McDevitt Osteen Chojnicki & Deters.

David McDevitt

David McDevitt is a lifelong resident of Effingham, Illinois. He graduated from St. Anthony High School in 1984, attended Lake Land College and Quincy College, and earned a bachelor's degree in Finance from Eastern Illinois University in 1989. He received his Juris Doctorate from St. Louis University School of Law in 1992. Since graduating, David has practiced law primarily in the Fourth Judicial Circuit, concentrating in civil litigation, family law, personal injury, and estate and probate litigation. He also serves as a mediator for several central Illinois courts and is actively involved in the Effingham community, serving on numerous boards.

Kirsten Osteen

Kirsten Osteen was born and raised in Altamont, Illinois. She graduated from Altamont High School in 1998 and earned a bachelors degree at the University of Illinois in 2002. She then attended law school at Southern Illinois University, graduating in 2006, where she was President of the Student Bar Association. After graduation, she practiced in estate planning, personal injury, and civil litigation at Taylor Law Offices. She currently serves as President of Strategic Training and Restoration and resides in Altamont with her family.

Bill Austin

Bill Austin is Of Counsel to the firm, focusing on real estate, business law, banking law, and related civil litigation. He is a member of several bar associations and serves as Chairman of Attorneys’ Title Guaranty Fund, Inc. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Finance in 1967 and a J.D. in 1970. He was admitted to practice in Illinois and later in certain federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a former Assistant and Special Assistant Attorney General and retired as a Brigadier General, AUS, after over 30 years of military service.

Dale Wolff

Dale F. Wolff joined McDevitt Osteen Chojnicki & Deters in 2013, after nearly 30 years as a senior attorney at Taylor Law Offices, P.C. He concentrates his practice in estate planning, wills, trusts, estate settlements, elder law, and real estate. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture from the University of Illinois and a Juris Doctor degree from Valparaiso University School of Law. He served as Effingham County Assistant State’s Attorney in 1977 and 1978, and was an owner of Effingham Title Company for over 23 years. He is a past president of the Illinois Land Title Association and the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the Supreme Court Committee on Character and Fitness for the Fifth Judicial District and Ombudsman for the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Illinois.

Ed Deters

Ed Deters has been practicing law for over twenty years. He graduated from St. Anthony High School in Effingham, earned a Bachelor's Degree in History from Quincy University in 1988, and graduated with honors from John Marshall Law School in Chicago in 1993. He worked as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Peoria County for seven years, handling serious cases including murder. In 2000, he was elected Effingham County State’s Attorney, serving three terms until 2012. In 2012, he co-founded McDevitt, Osteen, Chojnicki & Deters, LLC, bringing his extensive legal experience to private practice.
