Jennifer K. Nordstrom

John J. Garvey III
John is a civil litigation attorney who has tried over 75 cases to verdict. He represents business owners, individuals, insurers, nursing home operators, and indigent citizens. Michelle L. Burden
Michelle has been representing individuals and businesses in the areas of personal injury, insurance coverage, commercial disputes, and intellectual property for over 20 years. She also assists clients in employment law matters, domestic relations, and estate planning. Michelle is licensed to practice in the state and federal courts of Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana. David A. Shearer, Jr.
David is an experienced civil litigation attorney practicing in both Ohio and Kentucky who has litigated cases in over 100 of Kentucky’s 120 counties. He has significant trial experience having tried in excess of 50 cases to verdict, including wrongful death, automobile liability claims, construction defects, bad faith, products liability, premises liability and employment related claims. Additionally, he has successfully argued cases before the Court of Appeals in both Ohio and Kentucky, the Kentucky Supreme Court and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. In addition to his insurance-based practice, he routinely advises both employees and employers on a variety of issues including contractual formation and disputes, OSHA and other compliance matters as well as discrimination claims.

Nicole A. Mitchell
A first-chair trial lawyer with over 25 years of experience, Nicole is licensed to practice in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. Her practice includes the defense of general tort claims, premises liability cases, insurance coverage issues, bad faith claims, and fire and casualty claims. Nicole understands that each case should be tailored to the needs of each individual client. Nicole works closely with her clients to determine the best approach to resolving various cases. She understands the stresses involved with litigation, and provides a reassuring approach to alleviate clients’ concerns. Nicole is active in the Ohio Association of Civil Trial Attorneys (OACTA) where she serves on the Board of Trustees and co-chair of the Women in Law Committee. She is also a member of the Cincinnati Bar Association and the Defense Research Institute. Most recently, Ohio Super Lawyers Magazine recognized Nicole as a 2023 Super Lawyer, and OACTA awarded Nicole the Committee Chair of the Year award for her work on the Women in Law Committee.

Christopher T. Brann
Chris is an Attorney at Garvey Shearer Nordstrom, having joined the firm in 2015. Chris’ practice is focused on litigation, representing individuals and businesses through the legal process in both state and federal courts throughout Kentucky and Ohio. Chris handles a wide array of cases including insurance defense, construction law, automobile accidents, personal injury claims, fire losses, premises liability issues, insurance bad faith claims, insurance coverage, and COVID-19 related litigation. Chris’ proven ability and experience allows him to assist clients from the onset of potential legal action, through trial and any related appellate issues. Chris has first chair trial experience in front of judges and juries in Kentucky and Ohio. Prior to joining Garvey Shearer Nordstrom, Chris worked for a small local firm. In this role, he handled personal injury claims for plaintiffs and had a large criminal defense practice. This experience provided Chris with a well-rounded understanding of the legal process from all sides, helping him achieve the best possible outcome for his clients.

Jacob A. Lentsch
Jacob is an associate attorney who joined Garvey Shearer Nordstrom in 2023. Jacob handles a broad range of cases including insurance defense, personal injury and property damage, construction defect, and business defense. Prior to joining Garvey Shearer Nordstrom, Jacob worked for a small firm assisting in general civil litigation matters from the plaintiff’s side and assisted in the administration of estates and guardianships. Jacob’s experience on both sides of the “v” provides him with a well-rounded understanding of civil litigation claims.
