About John

John Scorsine is the founder of The Kanthaka Group, where he provides legal counsel and strategic consulting services with a focus on government contracting, national security, and criminal defense. His legal practice serves small and mid-sized businesses, military personnel, and individuals facing major felony charges. With over two decades of experience in both private practice and government advisory roles, John brings deep knowledge of federal acquisition regulations (FAR/DFARS), SBIR/STTR programs, and compliance matters affecting defense and national security. He has held “of counsel” roles with firms including Holland & Hart LLP and Maceau Law, and previously served as General Counsel for a national R&D technology firm. John has worked alongside federal agencies at the highest levels, including as a senior associate at DFI International and as a legal advisor to U.S. Northern Command. He also served as the Plans, Operations, and Military Support Officer (POMSO) for the Wyoming National Guard. In addition to his legal practice, John is an active member of the community. He has served on several nonprofit and governmental boards and has volunteered as a firefighter and paramedic. John holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Juris Doctor from the University of Wyoming. He recently completed a Master of Arts degree in Buddhist Studies from the University of Sunderland (UK), where his research included interviews with leaders of the Tibetan Government in Exile, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
