Stephen M. Wauck

Stephen began working for Berg & Berg in 2007 as a paralegal before enrolling at Chicago-Kent College of Law. He clerked one summer for Judge Daniel Lynch of the Cook County Law Division, and spent another summer representing indigent defendants in major felony cases in Cook County. In his final year of law school he worked in the area of eminent domain. Stephen currently concentrates his practice in workers' compensation claims, representing hundreds of injured employees from the filing of the case through trial, appeals, and final settlement. Stephen has also appeared in many civil cases ranging from rather small cases to million dollar claims. Stephen also handles a variety of criminal defense matters for the firm in felony, misdemeanor and traffic courts. In his free time, Stephen is an avid musician who plays Irish music on the flute and tin whistle.

Lorena Guerra

Denver, CO

As a Dormer Harpring legal assistant, Lorena finds satisfaction in solving complex questions through research and out-of-the-box thinking. Lorena was born and raised in Saltillo, Mexico, and earned her bachelor’s degree in law at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education in Monterrey, Mexico. While studying, Lorena had the opportunity to study at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, Italy and Humboldt Universität zu Berlin in Germany, taking specialized courses in law and business. Lorena’s passion for analysis, conducting research and finding solutions to complex cases sparked her interest in a legal career from a young age.

Hillary Andrade is a Medical Records Coordinator at Wocl Leydon, an educator, and a global explorer. She holds a B.A. in Anthropology from Franklin & Marshall College and an M.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Bridgeport (4.0 GPA). Her career path includes lifeguard, bilingual paraeducator, and working abroad in Munich, Germany. She is fluent in English and Spanish, and has studied French and German.

Maurice Gothe

Columbia, MD

Maurice Gothe, born in Germany and relocated to Virginia around the age of nine, is an Associate Attorney. During high school, he participated in baseball and basketball, eventually continuing to pursue baseball as an undergraduate. He attended Hampden-Sydney College, where he focused on Foreign Affairs for his major and German for his minor. Later, he earned his Juris Doctorate from North Carolina Central University. Before he became a member of Portner & Shure, Maurice gained practical experience through internships at the Chesterfield Public Defenders Office and the Civil Litigation Clinic at NCCU. In his leisure time, he enjoys reading, playing video games, working out at the gym, golfing, and watching anime.

Matt Rygh is a Senior Partner at Barrister Law Firm, focusing on criminal defense, family law, probate, and civil litigation. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business from the University of Phoenix and his JD from Florida A&M University College of Law, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He is fluent in German.

Brient Hicks is a dynamic attorney with a strong academic foundation (JD from IU McKinney, BA from Wabash College). He brings experience from Barnes & Thornburg LLP, where he focused on corporate transactions, regulatory compliance, and healthcare industry legal issues. He also served as an Area Executive Analyst at The Resource Group.
